Mission Statement
The PES DSD SIG is a professional network of PES members with an interest in endocrine conditions that cause atypical genital development. The mission of the DSD SIG is to improve care for patients with these conditions by reviewing and disseminating best practices for management, promoting education of fellows and other trainees, identifying needs and discussing research priorities, and advising the PES Board and PES as a whole on issues related to DSD.
Goals and Objectives
- Community: Serve as a professional network of pediatric endocrinologists with an interest in DSD conditions.
- Patient Care: Review and disseminate best practices for management.
- Education: Provide training and develop training materials (possible activity: develop a trainee workshop on DSD to be held at a future PES meeting).
- Research: Identify research priorities and facilitate research collaborations (possible activity: develop and conduct a US/Canadian survey of adults with DSD to understand issues around quality of life, gender, outcomes after genital surgery, etc.).
