Haley White Zarger
Haley has been a physician assistant in the Division of Endocrinology & Diabetes at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (CHP) for the past 12 years. She treats patients with a variety of endocrine disorders but has a special interest in helping children with type 1 diabetes. She has been involved in QI projects and research initiatives to help improve driving safety in patients with T1D, diabetes management in schools, and transitioning pediatric patients to adult care.
Haley has been on the CHP APP Advisory Committee since its inception in 2018. She has helped to develop an APP specific mentorship program at UPMC that encompasses all hospitals across the healthcare system, where she currently serves as the pediatrics mentorship representative. Haley also recently joined the APP Clinical Council at UPMC Hamot. She has helped to plan APP appreciation week and Diabetes Awareness Month at CHP for the past several years.
Haley has been a preceptor for PA students from the University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University, Chatham University, and Gannon University. She has given lectures for numerous PA programs, the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistant conference, Western Pennsylvania Diabetes Education Conference, and was the keynote speaker for a JDRF event. She is currently serving on the Western Pennsylvania Community Outreach Committee for Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF).
Haley has helped the division expand care to an underserved area in Erie, PA, where she resides with her husband, Alex and their son, Bennett.
