Alexandra Armstrong
Alexandra Armstrong is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner working at Children’s of Alabama since 2014. Alexandra has undergone specialized training in caring for children who have experienced adverse childhood events, and she has a specific interest in caring for high-risk patient populations. She has played an integral role is establishing a high-risk Type 1 Diabetes clinic and a gender-affirming clinic at Children’s of Alabama. Alexandra serves on the Alabama Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) as president for 2020-2021and secretary for 2021-2022. She also works as an adjunct clinical instructor for the UAB School of Nursing. Her work investigating the hospital regulation of pediatric nurse practitioner practice was recently published in the Journal for Nurse Practitioners, and she will be presenting this research at the 2022 NAPNAP conference this month! She is actively involved in the research of nurse practitioner practice and APP onboarding. She also works with the Type 1 Diabetes Exchange on diabetes quality improvement initiatives and serves on the Junior Board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for the state of Alabama. She and her husband, Michael, serve as foster parents, and have a 1-year-old daughter, Levy, and two dogs, Gandalf and Jorah.
