Joseph Karpel, PA-C, MPH, BCADM
I am a graduate of the Touro University California MPH/MSPAS Program. During my clinical year, I completed a three-month rotation with the Diabetes Research Education and Management (DREAM) Team, which sparked my passion for working with individuals living with diabetes. Following graduation, I began my career in adult general endocrinology with a strong clinical focus on Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes management and I acquired my Board Certification in Advanced Diabetes Management.
After three years in adult endocrinology, I transitioned to Pediatric Endocrinology, where I now practice in both inpatient and outpatient settings at Sutter Health in Sacramento, California. I have a particular interest in the use of diabetes technologies—including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors (CGMs)—to optimize glycemic control and improve quality of life for patients and families.
I am also actively involved in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and clinical outcomes. My work focuses on integrating technology, education, and data-driven strategies to improve adherence, reduce hypoglycemia, and support personalized diabetes management plans.
