Dr. Paul Kaplowitz, in collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Pediatric Endocrine Society, has established the Paul Kaplowitz, MD, Endowed Lectureship for contributions to cost-effective care and quality improvement in pediatric endocrinology.
Dr. Kaplowitz has long been interested in finding ways to reduce unnecessary testing and treatment, particularly in the areas of early puberty, short stature, and subclinical hypothyroidism. He would like PES to recognize at our annual meeting a member of our community who has advocated for cost-effective practice and/ or quality improvement and has published in this area. The lecturer will be chosen from nominees submitted by the membership in collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics and will present a 30 minute lecture focused on their work in this area during the Pediatric Endocrine Society Annual Meeting [pedsendo.org].

Paul Kaplowitz, MD, Endowed Lectureship – Call for Nominations
Dr. Paul Kaplowitz, in collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Pediatric Endocrine Society (PES), has established the Paul Kaplowitz, MD, Endowed Lectureship for contributions to cost-effective care and quality improvement in pediatric endocrinology.
Dr. Kaplowitz has long been interested in finding ways to reduce unnecessary testing and treatment, particularly in the areas of early puberty, short stature, and subclinical hypothyroidism. He would like PES to recognize at our annual meeting a member of our community who has advocated for cost-effective practice and/ or quality improvement and has published in this area.
The AAP and PES recognize one individual yearly for cost-effective care and/or quality improvement in pediatric endocrinology. Any pediatric endocrinologist (in the U.S. or Canada) can be nominated for this lecture. The proposed lecture should cover some aspect of cost-effective care and/or quality improvement in pediatric endocrinology. The recipient will present a 30-minute lecture focused on their work in this area during the Pediatric Endocrine Society Annual Meeting. The recipient will receive a $1,ooo honorarium and travel expenses (airfare and 1-2 nights hotel) to attend the PES Annual Meeting. This award is supported by the Paul Kaplowitz, MD, Endowment fund.
All nominations will be considered by the AAP Section on Endocrinology Executive Committee and approved by the PES and AAP.
