We write to share the news that Carol Foster, MD, passed away this past weekend on June 22: Carol Marvel Foster, MD – Larkin Mortuary Obituaries
Dr. Foster made significant contributions to Pediatric Endocrinology over her many years of service at the University of Utah Health and Primary Children’s Hospital. She held academic appointments as Professor of Pediatrics with the University of Utah School of Medicine since 2005 and was honored with emeritus status in 2021.
She founded and directed the fellowship program in Pediatric Endocrinology, leaving a profound impact on medical education and patient care at our institution and in the community. She was the first pediatric endocrinologist in the transgender clinic and a renowned expert in precocious puberty. She provided compassionate care to all of her patients and was a fierce advocate for the children she treated. She touched many lives and was especially supportive of women in medicine and the disadvantaged.
Dr. Foster’s life exemplified service, excellence, and compassion.
A reception will be held at 6:30PM on Thursday, June 27, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) with a service to follow at 7PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested for donations to be made to The Foster Family Fellowship and Faculty Endowment in Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology Clinical Research at the University of Utah.
