Please register for the facilitator training – September 25\, 9-11 am ET \n\nDuring this 2-hour experience\, we will review case scenarios for relevance and how to apply UPSTANDER skills to address. This is very important to attend to help build facilitation skills for the case scenario practicum via small groups on Oct 30. We go over the Do’s and Don’ts of being a facilitator and answer questions to make sure each person is comfortable with being a facilitator. They must attend all 3 sessions. A facilitator guide will be provided to all those interested. This can be recorded for people to watch later if unable to attend in-person.\nFacilitators are any active PES member who are open to learning about practicing unbiased skills and intervening in an effective way.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nSession 1 – October 23\, 1-3 pm ET (UPSTANDER didactic presentation)\nSession 2 – October 30\, 1-3 pm ET (UPSTANDER case scenarios small group breakout session)\nAs a facilitator please register for all three below\n\nLearning objectives:\n1. The program design allows for a high level of interactivity with case-based discussion and Q&A as well as breaks in the faculty presentations where the learners utilize Whiteboard and 2D Ultra 4K HD animations to reduce the cognitive load required for uptake of key learnings on the mechanism of action of CD3 and CD20 antagonists and their roles in T1D disease etiopathogenesis as well as clinical monitoring for autoantibody positive individuals: glucometer testing\, HbA1c\, OGTT\, etc. and frequency in use. In addition\, we will also be partnering with the Public Health Foundation (PHF) for program awareness and for simulcasting the live program through their network\, which will vastly extend the reach of this education.\n\n\n\nSpeakers/Faculty: \nDr. Richard Oram\, MD\, PhD\, BMBCh\, MRCP \nAssociate Professor\, Diabetes UK Harry Keen Fellow \nInstitute of Biomedical and Clinical Science and NIHR Exeter Clinical Research Facility \nExeter\, UK \nEmily K. Sims\, MD \nPediatric Endocrinologist \nRiley Hospital for Children \nIndianapolis\, IN \nLearning Objectives: Upon completion of one or more of the proposed activities and using the resources provided\, HCPs will have improved ability to: \n\n\n\nDescribe the clinical presentation of T1D in adults compared to children\nIdentify appropriate autoantibody screening strategies for T1D\, including type\, frequency\, and number\nInterpret results from screening protocols to drive management decisions\nDiscuss the latest clinical evidence for efficacy and tolerability of newly approved and investigational immunomodulatory agents\nImplement strategies for appropriate clinical monitoring and early screening in individuals at highest risk\n\n\n\nCME \n\n\n\nIn support of improving patient care\, Med Learning Group is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)\, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)\, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)\, to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. Med Learning Group will designate this satellite symposium and simulcast for a maximum of 1.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Med Learning Group designates this activity for a maximum of 1.25 ANCC Contact Hours.\nThe American Medical Association (AMA) has an agreement of mutual recognition of continuing medical education (CME) credit with the European Union of Medical Specialties (UEMS). Under the terms of this agreement\, the AMA will convert CME credit for live and e-learning activities certified by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME)\, the accrediting arm of the UEMS\, to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. The renewed agreement is in place through July 31\, 2026.

SUMMARY:SEED Webinar\, Pediatric Obesity: Current Management
DESCRIPTION:Title Pediatric Obesity: Current Management \nBrief Description \nObesity is a serious health issue affecting the pediatric population. It is a complex chronic disease that carries a significant risk of comorbidities. The prevalence of pediatric obesity has increased exponentially in recent years with prevalence increasing with age\, particularly in children from lower socioeconomic status. Lifestyle and behavioral changes lead to only modest improvement due to challenges and limitations in access. Lifestyle therapy outcomes are disappointing as a majority of adolescents with severe obesity\, despite repeated efforts\, are non-responders or achieve only a modest effect on weight. There is a need for intensive and non-stigmatizing treatment strategies including intensive health behavior and lifestyle treatment and pharmacotherapy for children and adolescents who require additional treatment options to address this public health issue. This talk will aim to address the effective treatment strategies to manage pediatric obesity. \n  \nLearning Objectives \n\nReview AAP clinical practice guidelines on obesity\nDiscuss the shift in treatment approach to obesity\nDiscuss treatment options including medication and bariatric surgery\n\n  \nSpeaker \nShruthi Arora MBBS Assistant Professor\, Division of Pediatric Endocrinology \nEmory University School of Medicine \nRegister Here
